The idea is to use visual communication through image and typograph.
Brief: With this brief Brief we were asked to re-design "The Silk Road Suite" CD cover
Distribution - All around the world.
Solution: We decided to create this design away from the computer. Firstly we took photos of ruffled blue silk and used thread to create the words "The
Silk Road Suite" we also used thread to symbolise the route from China to the west (The route of the silk road). We printed out and stuck some embroidery thread onto the letters, We also used embroidery thread to stick onto paper to show the map of the Silk Road as it goes east to west and as it branches out. Then we scanned it into the computer and with the “Magic Wand” in photoshop we selected the background and knocked it out, which gave it a rustic look to symbolise the old silk road. We then imported the photo of the blue silk and realigned all the layers, saved it as a jpg. We then printed it out to scale and placed the CD cover and took photos of it at different angles.
